Imagine waking up in pain, still exhausted, and covered in blood.
The menstrual cycle typically lasts 28 days, and there is a bleed within that time frame. The bleeding is due to the shedding of the uterine lining, indicating that an egg hasn’t been fertilized and the body stops preparing for pregnancy.

I’ll say, I’m not a medical professional and my only expertise is that I’ve had a menstrual cycle for over 20 years, at the time of writing this. over the last two decades, I have learned how to listen to my body and have developed through many shifts with how my cycle has shown p for me.
in the beginning, it was pain. The bleeds were heavy. I’d been hospitalized for severe dehydration due to the onset of my menses, multiple times. Every month, I had to dread what I eventually came to call “Shark Week”. While some weeks were better than others, I for the most part was double over in pain and sick for the first few days.
